Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time Nurse Supervisor for the New Orleans Inpatient Services Program. The Nurse Supervisor leads patient care operations, oversees staff, and ensures compliance with medical and regulatory standards.

You will conduct admissions assessments, coordinate shifts, and manage medication administration and documentation. The role requires a BSN or equivalent, active RN licensure, CPR certification, and EHR experience, with a focus on patient-centered care

Qualifications

  • Active RN licensure required.
  • BSN or higher degree required.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead agency operations and supervise staff in patient care.

Job Summary

Odyssey House Louisiana,Inc. is a seeking a full-time Nurse Supervisor for the New OrleansInpatient Services Program. The Nurse Supervisor provides high-qualityClient-focused health care services that meet the assessed and individuallyplanned needs of all clients in the Inpatient Services treatment program.

Responsibilities and Duties

It is the duty and responsibility of the Nurse Supervisor to:

  • assumea leadership role in the agency;
  • supervise,orientate, and assist staff in the delivery of patient care;
  • ConductH&Ps and intake assessments for inpatient clients;
  • schedulenursing shifts ensuring that all shifts are covered, and if needed work anyopen shifts;
  • reviewnurse’s timecard activity for accuracy and ensure compliance with agencypolicies and procedures;
  • conductnursing meetings and ensure proper documentation stored in SharePoint;
  • oversee medical matters including butnot limited to medical documentation, and reporting of abuse and neglect;
  • ensurecompliance with HIPAA Privacy Rules;
  • participatein weekly One on One meetings and monthly in-services;
  • work collaboratively with otherdepartments including but not limited to Human Resources, and Compliance andQuality Assurance;
  • participate in clinical discussionswith Inpatient Bohn Management;
  • assist in maintaining the clientcensus and timely movement of clients through the treatment program;
  • completeincident reports and ensure nurses are completing Incident Reports per agencypolicy, ensure all Incident Reports are submitted to Program Manager andDirector promptly;
  • safelyadminister medications as ordered using the five rights and utilizing a MAR;
  • ensure anarcotic pill count is conducted at the beginning and end of each shift andmanagement of stock medicines;
  • managepatient pharmacy orders by timely processing PAs, by fax or verbal order,ensure their arrival and log them onto patient’s MAR;
  • manage the MAR daily, weekly, and monthly as needed;
  • ensure the security of narcotics, keys, and all other medications;
  • participatein medication and medical supply inventory control;
  • manage themedication refrigerator;
  • overseepharmacy coordination as needed, including but not limited to Pharmerica, MHSD,Avita, St. Vincent DePaul’s, and local community pharmacies;
  • monitorprescribed medication consumption and treatments;
  • coordinatethe management of patient’s medication stock, including pharmacy pick-up anddrop-off of meds, calling in refills for clients, and upkeep of how medicationis stored;
  • educateclients on prescribed medication tapers;
  • ensurecommunication of medication procedures to discharged clients and scandischarged clients acknowledgement receipts of medications;
  • ensurepsych ed groups occur as scheduled with approved curriculum;
  • encourageclients’ participation by empowering them;
  • beflexible when taking care of clients in need;
  • alwaysmaintain professionalism with staff members and clients;
  • completean accurate census and count all clients daily;
  • completetriage on patient at time of admission and transcribe it to relevant paperworkfor MDT;
  • attendweekly treatment team meetings and raise any concerns to the Counselorsregarding clients, listen to concerns from the Counselors and assist if it is amedical issue;
  • ensurecoordination with FQHC occurring in a timely manner;
  • follow treatment care plans set forth by the medical staff;
  • coordinate/facilitatepatient care, work collaboratively and maintain communication with patient careteam (providers, counselors, etc.) to provide effective, timely, andappropriate patient management;
  • provide on-going assessment ofacute medical/nursing needs of all residents and refer residents to appropriatetreatment centers;
  • coordinateshift change with night staff and Medical Staff Daily Inquiries review;
  • check-inwith the Front Desk regarding if any clients went to ER after hours and obtainmedical feedback sheet and any pertinent labs and notes for the visit;
  • ensurecompliance with regulatory bodies including but not limited to CARF, LDH, ASAM;
  • Participatein mandatory inpatient management meetings;
  • performother duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications include the following:

  • BSN or equivalent
  • Active and valid RN licensure
  • Current CPR certification
  • Electronic Health Record experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication,organizational, time management, and negotiation skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include the following:

  • Knowledge of Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous principles
  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria
  • Supervisory experience
  • Substance Use Disorder Treatment experience
