Job summary

Ibis Healthcare in Tampa, FL, is seeking a Nurse Supervisor to oversee the adult inpatient nursing services, supervise staff, and provide training and consultation. This full-time role reports to the Adult Inpatient Nurse Manager and emphasizes quality improvement and program reporting.

The ideal candidate holds a current Florida RN or LPN license, a NLN-approved nursing degree, and demonstrates strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced inpatient

Qualifications

• Nursing Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree from an NLN approved program.
• 2 years nursing experience and 1 year supervisory experience preferred.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice as an RN or LPN in Florida.
• Ability to present information to managers, patients, families, employees, and the public.
• Ability to multi-task and demonstrate basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision for the nursing and behavioral/mental health staff and ensures training compliance.
• Supervises and/or coordinates direct service delivery per program requirements.
• Completes documentation including program monitoring and quality reports.
• Maintains cooperative relationships with internal and external programs and agencies.
• Attends agency-wide, division and program meetings, seminars, conferences, and workshops.
• Interviews/hires prospective employees and orients them to the program.
• May assume administrative and supervisory duties in the absence of the Coordinator of Nurses or Program Manager.
• Performs other duties that are similar or logically assigned to the job.

Job description

The Nurse Supervisor is licensed nurse professional who will be responsible for daily operation of the adult inpatient program nursing services, supervision of direct service staff, and training and consultation. Oversees care provided by Nursing staff and Behavioral Health Technicians. Participates in Quality Improvement activities and program reporting as assigned. Reports to and functions under the direction, instruction, and supervision of the Adult Inpatient Nurse Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Nursing Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree from an NLN approved program with 2 years nursing experience and one year supervisory experience preferred. Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, families, employees, and the general public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to multi-task, display decision-making and critical thinking skills, and basic computer skills.

WORKENVIRONMENT

Secured 24/7 inpatient psychiatric healthcare setting providing a therapeutic environment to a diverse patient population. This is a fast-paced environment but team-centered focus, will require multi-tasking with above average time management skills.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Provides direct supervision for the nursing and behavioral and mental healthcare staff and ensures training compliance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Abilities in reaching, bending, talking, sitting, carrying, standing, grasping, fine hand coordination, ability to hear, ability to read and write, and the ability to remain calm under stress. Ability to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone. May be required to complete standing presentations involving speaking and listening to audience.
