Job summary

Children's of Alabama is seeking a CVOR Scrub Nurse Specialist to join the Cardiovascular Operating Room team on a full-time day shift. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for CV surgical patients with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include orienting staff, participating in in-service programs and quality improvement, and applying AORN guidelines and sterile technique to all procedures. Alabama RN licensure required.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse in Alabama with valid license.
• Knowledge of perioperative nursing practices.
• Familiarity with AORN Guidelines and sterile technique.

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift, Monday-Friday with call shifts.

Summary

The CVOR Scrub Nurse Specialist is a professional scrub nurse in the operating room who, with minimal supervision, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of CV patients who require a surgical procedure.

Other Information

• Assist in the orientation of professional and non-professional personnel as needed.
• Participates in departmental and hospital in service programs and committees as required.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives for optimal outcomes.
• Assumes responsibility for other assignments as requested.
• Knows AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice and is an expert in the Principles of Sterile Technique.
• Knowledgeable regarding specialized CV instrumentation and maintenance.
• Demonstrates understanding of hemodynamic parameters and uses this knowledge to anticipate needs.
• Demonstrates interpretation of electrocardiographic information to continually access patient needs.
• Has the ability to be flexible and versatile while maintaining a calm demeanor.

Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications

• Registered Nurse AL Single State or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
• Registered Nurse AL NLC Multi State
• Registered Nurse Non-AL NLC Multi State
• Basic Life Support
