Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking an RN for a part-time on-site role in San Diego. The 16-hour/week schedule includes weekend shifts; base pay is about $48/hour with a $3 differential for weekends, plus in-person responsibilities.

The RN will conduct crisis intervention, medication management, and case coordination within a multidisciplinary team, using the local EHR and adhering to CAL/CRF guidelines.

Qualifications

• California RN license in good standing.
• BLS certification current during employment.
• Minimum of one year experience with a mental health population preferred.
• Ability to pass criminal/background clearance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor client conditions and report responses to the prescriber.
• Maintain medication inventory and proper storage per regulations.

• Coordinate care with appropriate providers for acute or evolving needs.

Job description

• Base Pay $48.08 - $48.56 / Hour
• Other Compensation $3.00 per hour differential for weekend shifts

Hours

16 hours per week; Saturday and Sunday, 3:30 pm to Midnight. This is an on-site position and requires in-person attendance to perform the essential functions of the job.

As a Nurse - RN, you will:

• Assist multidisciplinary team with crisis intervention, psychiatric medical assessments, case management, and medication support services.
• Consult with prescriber for medication orders and guidance/recommendations for the treatment of medical and psychiatric conditions.
• Administer medications as ordered by the prescriber.
• Monitor clients physical and psychiatric condition and response to treatment and/or medication. Report clients' responses to the prescriber.
• Maintain inventory, storage and handling of medication including Patient Assistance Program (PAP) medications and/or sample medications according to Medi-Cal and all overseeing agency's guidelines. Ensure all medications are managed and stored appropriately as defined by local and state regulations.
• Complete and sign all required medical/nursing documents using the County designated electronic health record (EHR).
• Provide health education and medication instructions to clients, family members, staff and other support personnel.
• Provide services in the community or clients home, including administration of medication.
• Identify acute or potential health problems and coordinate care with the appropriate provider and/or level of care for treatment.

Our Crisis Centers are Short Term Acute Residential Treatment (START) programs (Del Sur Crisis Center,Esperanza Crisis Center, Halcyon Crisis Center,Hawthorne Crisis Center,Jary Barreto Crisis Center, New Vistas Crisis Center, and Turning Point Crisis Centerthat provide intensive, community-based crisis residential services for adults throughout San Diego County. They deliver a unique alternative to psychiatric hospitalization to clients who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis of such magnitude so as not to be manageable on an outpatient basis. Their services are provided in a home-like environment that specializes in the psychosocial rehabilitation of each individual.

Licensure

Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required and must be kept current and in good standing during employment

Credentialing

Additional Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of one year of experience working with a mental health population, especially with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders is strongly preferred
• Ability to assist in emergency situations, physically and mentally, is required
• Proficient computer skills, including the ability to document concurrently and/or collaboratively.
• This program is housed in a two-story building that does not have an elevator. Ability to navigate stairs is required.
• Ability to pass criminal/background clearance

Summary

Under the direction of the Nurse Coordinator delivers behavioral health nursing care. Ensures health care needs of clients are addressed using the nursing process and according to CRF Policies and Procedures. Assists clients in accessing community medical and psychiatric resources to achieve optimal level of health and functioning in the community.

Residential programs are required to be operational 24 hours a day, 365 days per year including all CRF recognized holidays. Given this requirement, employees are expected to work on all CRF recognized holidays depending on staffing needs as scheduled.
