Job summary

You will create teaching strategies, examine competency data, and develop orientation and competency checklists while aligning initiatives with patient safety and quality goals. A master's degree in nursing and NJ RN licensure are required, with acute care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's or higher in Nursing or related field required.
• NJ RN license required; BLS/ACLS preferred (as applicable).
• Experience in acute care nursing education preferred.

About This Role

The Nurse Professional Development Specialist (NPD) is a Registered Nurse/Educator with an Advanced Nursing Degree, responsible for creating educational programs and strategies that enhance nursing practice and support staff development. This role is ideal for those passionate about nursing education and professional growth.

• Create teaching/learning strategies that promote application of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to practice.
• Analyze competency assessment data to identify gaps in practice.
• Develop educational programs to achieve patient-oriented outcomes.
• Develop, review, and revise nursing procedures and competency performance checklists.
• Plan orientation and competency requirements based on future needs of staff.
• Manage practice gaps between academia and service.

Requirements

Education

• Graduate Degree (Master's or greater) in Nursing or related field
• Baccalaureate degree in nursing if the graduate degree is in a related field

Experience

• Minimum of 3 or more years of current experience in Nursing in an acute care hospital

Licenses & Certifications

• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification
• ACLS, NRP, and PALS preferred
