Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Nurse Educator to lead staff development and continuing education initiatives across clinical areas. You will design, implement and evaluate orientation programs and professional development activities to enhance nursing practice.

The role requires strong teaching, leadership and research skills, with a focus on evidence-based practice, regulatory compliance, and culturally competent education.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing required.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State and/or Connecticut required.
• 4–7 years of technical experience and 0–2 years of leadership/management experience, required.
• Demonstrated teaching and leadership skills in nursing.
• Documented Emergency Department experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assess learner characteristics including learning styles and needs for program development; creates an effective learning environment; evaluates outcomes of staff education.
• Functions as teacher and facilitator; tailors teaching strategies to learner's characteristics, culture, and objectives; plans culturally relevant nursing education programs.
• Maintains visible clinical presence; adheres to regulatory standards; advocates for nursing education programs supporting learner and organizational needs.
• Demonstrates ethical, cultural, and spiritual inclusion; engages in ethical decision-making; facilitates group processes; follows health reporting requirements.
• Functions as a change agent and leader; implements motivational strategies; maintains confidentiality; uses outcome measurements.
• Promotes problem solving; uses research in practice; applies evidence-based practice.
• Uses organizational strategic plan to determine educational priorities; allocates resources; plans and implements programs using innovation.
• Designs and implements evaluation plans; develops program budgets; supports professional development and participation in professional organizations.
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication; fosters critical thinking; links nurses to resources.
• Performs related duties as required and as essential functions under ADA.
