Job summary

Washington Regional is seeking a Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider to join a high-volume practice in a hospital system renowned for its heart care. The role requires an NP or PA, CPR certification, and at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience.

The successful candidate will work within the Walker Heart Institute, perform exams, order tests, prescribe treatment, and contribute to ongoing research and quality initiatives in a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Nurse Practitioner License and CPR required; national certification required.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical examinations of patients to evaluate health and diagnose illnesses.
• Order and perform diagnostic tests, such as x-rays and laboratory tests.
• Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary.
• Prescribe and dispense medications.
• Document medical information of patients and maintain electronic medical records.
• Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families on presenting health problems, treatment plans, and home care, and encourage and promote preventative health care and positive health behaviors.
• Request consultation or referral with other health care providers, such as physicians and clinics.
• Actively maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends, and support research projects.

Walker Heart is comprised of 7 Interventional Cardiologists, 2 Electrophysiology Cardiologists, 1 General Cardiologist, 3 CV Surgeons and 19 Advanced Practice Providers.
