Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Plano Pulmonary Care Consultants. This outpatient-focused role works with board-certified pulmonologists to evaluate and manage pulmonary and sleep-related disorders.

The Advanced Practice Provider will conduct comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and coordinate care across specialties in a patient-centered environment with no hospital rounding or on-call requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must be graduate of an accredited NP program
  • Current Texas RN license (or compact)
  • Current Texas APRN license
  • Current NP certification from an accredited body
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic pulmonary conditions.
  • Develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing (pulmonary function, labs, imaging).
  • Prescribe medications and therapies within scope of practice.
  • Educate patients on disease management and preventive care.
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers and specialists.
  • Document encounters accurately in the EMR.
  • Participate in quality improvement and uphold policies and standards.

Position Overview

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join Baylor Scott & White Pulmonary Care Consultants – Plano. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established pulmonary practice providing comprehensive outpatient care for patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. The Advanced Practice Provider will work collaboratively with board-certified pulmonologists to evaluate, diagnose, and manage pulmonary and sleep-related disorders while delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.

Practice Highlights
  • 100% Outpatient Pulmonary Medicine
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • No hospital rounding

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic pulmonary conditions.
  • Develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing, including pulmonary function studies, laboratory testing, and imaging.
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments within scope of practice.
  • Educate patients regarding disease management and preventive care.
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, and ancillary services.
  • Document patient encounters accurately within the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with Baylor Scott & White Health policies and standards.
Qualifications
Required Education
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) program
Required Licensure & Certifications
  • Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN licensure
  • Current Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
  • Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) from an accredited national certifying body
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in Pulmonary Medicine, Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, or Family Medicine preferred
  • Strong interest in Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine
  • Experience managing chronic disease processes preferred
  • Specialty training and mentorship available for qualified candidates transitioning into Pulmonary Medicine
