Samaritan Daytop Village, Inc. seeks a Nurse Practitioner to provide general medical and preventive care under physician supervision in one of our NYC area clinics, with a focus on compassionate patient care and follow-up.

The role includes diagnosis, treatment and coordination of care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates hold NYS RN and NP licenses (Adult/Family), DEA registration, NPI, and BLS, with 1–2 years of experience in addiction medicine or mental health

Qualifications

• NYS RN and NP licensures.
• Masters of Science in Nursing Degree from an accredited Advanced Nurse Practitioner program either in Family or Adult.
• 1–2 years experience in addiction medicine or mental health treatment programs.

Responsabilités

• Performs routine physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of a physician.
• Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s clinical problems and health care needs.
• Records accurate medical histories, physical findings and formulates plan and prognosis based on patient’s condition.
• Discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
• Submits health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by physician.
• Prescribes medications and monitor effectiveness, or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy or inhalation therapy.
• Refers patients to physician or to specialized health resources for treatment.
• Educates patients and their families on preventive care and medications.

The Role

Under general direction, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible under direction of a physician for providing general medical care, preventative care and treatment to patients in one of the agency’s clinics. This includes diagnosis, treatment, consultation and follow-up care. This individual attends to the patient’s need with the utmost patient care, compassion and understanding. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

• Provide direct clinical care including assessments, medication management, and medication administration.
• Provide psychiatric evaluations to clients.
• Provide treatment planning recommendations.
• Medication management.
• Provide psychiatric emergency crisis management and consultation.
• Participate in clinical training and staff development.
• Ensure documentation meets regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
• Aids with administrative work.

Qualifications

Who You Will Be

• Master’s degree from an accredited advanced Nurse Practitioner program in Psychiatric-Mental Health.
• At least one-two years’ experience working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner preferably in addiction medicine or substance use and/or mental health treatment programs.
• Knowledgeable about federal and state regulations governing medical/clinical treatment in substance use treatment programs.
• eMedNY Provider or willingness to enroll upon hire for Permanent Staff.
• Active NPI.
• Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to patients with a variety of psycho social issues.
• Ability to work with a medical and clinical interdisciplinary staff to ensure appropriate management of clients.
• Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, presentation and organizational skills.
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Team player and ability to work independently.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy

License/Certification Required:

• NYS RN and NP (Psychiatry and Mental Health) licensures.
• Valid DEA registration.
• BLS certification.
• eMEDNY Provider.

Preferred Education, license/certification, Experience, and/or Skills:

• National Board Certification (PMHNP) within 12 months of hire.
• Familiarity with OASAS, OMH, and DOH regulations.
• Bilingual Spanish.

• Ability to work under pressure

• Knowledge of techniques for identifying and preventing potentially violent behavior, including crisis management techniques.
