Bowen Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care to work under the supervision of a Medical Doctor, conducting patient assessments and developing treatment plans.

Responsibilities include prescribing medications, ordering labs, interpreting results, and providing patient education while collaborating with the clinical team. A Master’s in Nursing and FNP certification are required, along with Indiana prescriptive authority eligibility and post-hire CPI/BLS certifications.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required in nursing.
  • Current certification or eligibility by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
  • Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in Indiana.
  • CPI certification obtained after hire and kept current.
  • BLS and First Aid certifications obtained after hire and kept current.

  • Provide patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning in line with regulations and protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Doctor, staff, and other clinical team members.
  • Provide primary care services, education, counseling and support.
  • Issue medication prescriptions per treatment guidelines.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and explain results to patients.
  • Educate patients about medications, risks, benefits and expected outcomes.
  • Communicate with patients and conduct follow-ups as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care works collaboratively with the Medical Doctor to provide patient assessment and diagnosis, formulate treatment plans, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, interpret test results, provide patient education, and prepare medical records. This position works under the supervision of the Medical Doctor.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Below are the primary duties and essential functions of an employee in this position. While not all tasks may be performed by every employee in this role, all employees are expected to perform related tasks as needed. These essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Provides patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment plans in accordance with statutes, regulations and protocols regulating the profession.
  • Collaborates with the Medical Doctor, staff psychiatrist, nursing staff, therapists and any other member of the clinical team.
  • Provides primary care health services, education, counseling, and emotional support.
  • Issues medication prescriptions in accordance with treatment guidelines.
  • Orders laboratory tests, interprets, and explains the test results to patients.
  • Provides patient education regarding medications, risks, benefits and reasonable outcome expectations.
  • Communicates with patients and engages in follow-up as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occupational Exposure Risk Classification: The normal work routine involves moderate exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
  • The normal work routine has a minimal ergonomic risk for repetitive motion impairment.
  • The position may require a minimal amount of physical exertion (bending, lifting, twisting) in the work area.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Certificate or Professional License: Current Certification or eligible to be certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
    • Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
    • Currently holding or eligible to obtain Prescriptive Authority in Indiana.
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) - certification must be obtained after hire and prior to providing direct patient care. This certification must be maintained and kept current through employment.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid - certification must be obtained after hire and prior to providing direct patient care. This certification must be maintained and kept current through employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and active auto insurance coverage.
  • Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks
