AIMS clinic in Carmichael, CA is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for full-time internal medicine/primary care. You will evaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic conditions, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team.

You will maintain clinical documentation in Sutter Epic, exercise sound clinical judgment, and provide patient-centered care while meeting regulatory standards and pursuing ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current NP license in the applicable state.
  • National board certification for NP with appropriate specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, physical examinations, and medical histories.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions within scope of practice.
  • Develop individualized treatment and care plans for each patient.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments as appropriate within scope.
  • Order, review, and interpret labs and imaging as needed.

Position Overview

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive medical care within an Internal Medicine and Primary Care setting. The position involves evaluating and managing patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, developing individualized treatment plans, prescribing medications and treatments, coordinating care with other healthcare professionals, and maintaining accurate and timely medical documentation.

The Nurse Practitioner is expected to exercise sound clinical judgment, maintain professional and ethical standards, and provide patient-centered care consistent with applicable professional standards and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for performing and/or participating in the following duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions within the scope of practice.
  • Develop individualized treatment and care plans based on each patient's medical condition, history, and clinical needs.
  • Prescribe medications, treatments, and other therapeutic interventions as appropriate and within applicable scope-of-practice requirements.
  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic tests as clinically indicated.
  • Monitor patient conditions and clinical progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and health maintenance.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with physicians, specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to promote continuity and quality of patient care.
  • Accurately document patient evaluations, diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and other relevant clinical information in the electronic health record (EHR-Sutter Epic).
  • Perform clinical procedures appropriate to the Nurse Practitioner's training, qualifications, and scope of practice.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes and clinical care.
  • Participate in clinical research or other professional activities when applicable to the practice.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable professional, clinical, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
Qualifications and Professional Requirements

The Nurse Practitioner position requires the following qualifications, skills, and professional credentials:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited educational program.
  • Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the applicable state of practice.
  • National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner, with appropriate certification for the applicable area of practice.
  • Prior experience in Internal Medicine and/or Primary Care setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment-planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and manage patients with complex medical conditions.
  • Strong understanding of Internal Medicine and Primary Care principles and practices.
  • Ability to perform clinical procedures relevant to the position and within the practitioner's scope of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and medical documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize clinical responsibilities and manage a demanding patient-care environment.
  • Excellent critical-thinking and clinical decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to stressful situations and make timely, informed clinical decisions.
  • Commitment to continuing professional education and ongoing professional development.
  • Bilingual proficiency is considered an asset.
