Christie Clinic's Convenient Care seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide general, diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care under a physician’s supervision. The role includes a rotating schedule, weekend and holiday coverage, and assignments at Windsor and Urbana clinics as needed.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in a health care field with APN/PA certification and ongoing continuing education. Master’s degree is preferred; licensure in Illinois as APN/PA is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a health care related field.
• Completion of a post basic advanced practice formal education program.
• Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or CEUs.

Responsibilities

• Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
• Review patient records and interpret data to determine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Perform a complete and focused physical exam and record findings.
• Order laboratory and diagnostic procedures and synthesize results into a plan.
• Administer injections, immunizations, and medications; suture wounds.
• Provide patient education and counsel on health and prevention.
• Assist physician with documentation and orders; triage calls as needed.
• Perform evaluations and treatments in emergency situations.

Christie Clinic's department of Convenient Care is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant on a rotating schedule, 3 days a week with availability from Sunday-Saturday 8:00am-8:00pm, including weekends and holidays on rotation. This position will require coverage at the Windsor and Urbana clinics, as needed, to support the department.The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant must provide general care, diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative medicine in a medical facility, under the supervision of a Physician.JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Review patient records.Order, interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.Perform a complete and/or focused physical exam and record findings. Establish presumptive diagnosis if needed.Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.Administer injections, immunizations and/or oral medications. Suture wounds. Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.Instruct patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions. Provide patient education.Assist physician by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders and transcribing orders.Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.Perform related work as required.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree in a health care related fieldGraduation from an accredited school of nursingSuccessful completion of a post basic advanced practice formal education programSuccessful completion of all other requirements to practice as a nurse practitionerEvidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate or CEU’sPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s DegreeCERTIFICATE/LICENSE:Current Illinois state Advanced Practice Nurse Certified Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant licenseCurrent Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse Controlled Substance licenseCPR CertificationTYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed in a medical office setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment. Ionizing radiation and medicinal preparations are also common.
