About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life:

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our specialty clinic team in Peoria. This is a clinic‑based role built around continuity of care: you will carry your own panel of patients through evaluation, treatment, and long‑term follow‑up in gastroenterology and hepatology, with meaningful exposure to clinical research along the way.

A typical clinic day runs about 14 patients, a mix of new consultations and follow‑ups. You will perform comprehensive evaluations and pretreatment reviews, establish diagnoses, build and adjust treatment plans, order and interpret workup, and educate patients and families about their diagnosis and therapeutic options. You will consult physicians on complex cases and take on increasing independence as your competency is demonstrated.

New graduate NPs and PAs are encouraged to apply. For an early‑career provider, this is a chance to build genuine specialty depth, procedural skill, and clinical confidence alongside physicians and experienced clinical colleagues. Experienced providers will find room to practice with greater autonomy and to bring established specialty expertise to a growing team.

You will also gain exposure to clinical research and emerging therapies — caring for research patients, recognizing therapeutic opportunities, and educating eligible patients about available trials. Monday through Thursday is focused on patient care, while Friday is a structured half‑day for charting and administrative work, so documentation does not follow you home.

Why This Role Stands Out:
  • You own a panel — real continuity with your patients rather than one‑off coverage
  • Build genuine expertise in gastroenterology and hepatology rather than generalist breadth
  • New graduate NPs and PAs are welcome — specialty training and mentorship are built into the role
  • Develop procedural skills, including FibroScan, with training and supervision
  • Hands‑on exposure to clinical research and emerging treatment options while practicing clinically
  • A protected Friday half-day for charting and administrative work — and no weekend clinic
What We're Looking For:
  • An NP or PA with genuine interest in specialty medicine and complex, longitudinal patient care
  • Sound clinical judgment and the appetite to keep building specialty expertise
  • Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized and attentive to clinical documentation and follow‑through
  • Comfortable collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary clinical teams
  • A resourceful problem‑solver, motivated to take ownership and grow into greater independence over time
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, consultations, pretreatment reviews, and follow‑up visits.
  • Assess patients, establish diagnoses, and develop appropriate treatment plans within scope of practice.
  • Manage an assigned panel of patients and serve as a primary clinical point of contact throughout their care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and therapeutic options.
  • Collaborate with physicians on complex cases, diagnoses, and treatment decisions.
  • Identify and appropriately refer patients requiring additional specialty evaluation or services.
  • Educate eligible patients about available clinical research and therapeutic trial opportunities.
  • Participate in the care and monitoring of applicable clinical research patients.
  • Perform applicable in‑clinic procedures, including FibroScan, once appropriately trained and qualified.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Monitor quality‑of‑care metrics and contribute to established patient‑care standards.
  • Participate in applicable NP/PA call coverage based on training, experience, and departmental needs.
Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current or eligible AZ NP or PA license
  • Appropriate national board certification
  • Nurse Practitioner candidates must maintain applicable RN and NP licensure
  • Physician Assistant candidates must maintain applicable NCCPA certification
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients within an established scope of practice
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with physicians, fellow NPs and PAs, clinical staff, and patients
  • Ability to complete required GCP and IATA training upon hire
  • Ability to maintain all certifications required by the department or division
  • Valid authorization to work in the United States for any employer
Preferred Background:
  • 1+ year of NP or PA experience in a clinic or hospital environment; 3+ years is highly preferred
  • Previous outpatient gastroenterology and/or hepatology experience
  • Experience caring for patients with chronic hepatic disease
  • Experience performing FibroScan procedures
  • Clinical research or clinical trial exposure
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills
  • Comfort with electronic medical record systems, including eCW, and with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership potential
  • Interest in pursuing additional specialty certifications and continued professional development
This Role Is Likely a Fit If You…
  • Enjoy managing your own panel and taking real ownership of patient care.
  • Are a new graduate who wants to build a strong foundation in specialty medicine.
  • Are an experienced NP or PA looking to deepen your GI or hepatology expertise.
  • Want exposure to both traditional specialty care and clinical research.
  • Value physician collaboration while developing greater clinical independence.
  • Appreciate an early‑start weekday schedule with dedicated Friday time for charting and administrative work.
This Role May Not Be a Fit If You…
  • Are looking exclusively for a general primary care position.
  • Prefer a fully remote or hybrid clinical role.
  • Have little interest in gastroenterology, hepatology, or clinical research.
  • Prefer a position with minimal documentation or administrative responsibility.
  • Are uncomfortable growing into greater independence in patient management over time.
  • Would rather not carry a steady clinic volume of roughly 14 patients per day.
Why Join Us:

This role gives you an uncommon combination: a patient panel of your own, real specialty clinical experience, procedural exposure, and a working knowledge of clinical research. For a new graduate it is a strong entry point into GI and hepatology. For an experienced provider it offers autonomy and the chance to expand specialty expertise on a team that is genuinely growing.

You will also have a schedule designed around the realities of clinical practice, including an early Monday‑Thursday day and a Friday half‑day dedicated to charting and administrative responsibilities, which keeps the rest of the week focused on patients.
