Frey Consulting Group in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a growing clinical research team. The role combines patient care with protocol-driven research in a specialty setting, offering hands-on exposure and mentorship.

New graduates are welcome; the schedule is Monday–Thursday with a Friday half-day for administrative tasks and charting. On-site work, interprofessional collaboration, and opportunities to perform FibroScan procedures are included.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Current AZ NP or PA licensure.
• Appropriate national board certification.
• PA candidates must maintain NCCPA certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative clinical environment.
• Ability and willingness to learn clinical research protocols and processes.
• Ability to complete required GCP and IATA training.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient evaluations, consultations, and follow-up visits under supervision.
• Manage standard-of-care and clinical research patients within scope.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses and treatment options.
• Participate in clinical trial visits and protocol-driven patient care.
• Conduct medical/safety reviews for research participants.
• Collaborate with physicians on diagnoses and treatment decisions.
• Coordinate with research coordinators to ensure visits are completed.
• Review charts, source docs, and informed consent records.

Overview & Highlights:

• Location: Tucson, AZ
• Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM; Friday half-day dedicated to administrative work and charting
• Compensation: $130,000–$155,000 per year, depending on experience

About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life:

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing clinical research team in Tucson. Experienced APPs and new graduates are encouraged to apply. This is an opportunity to build expertise in specialty medicine while gaining hands-on exposure to clinical research and innovative therapies.

Monday through Thursday, you will focus primarily on patient care and clinical research responsibilities, working alongside physicians, experienced APPs, research coordinators, and other clinical professionals. You will evaluate and manage standard-of-care and research patients, provide follow-up care and patient education, participate in protocol-driven visits, and coordinate closely with the research team.

Fridays are structured as a half-day focused on administrative work and charting, giving you dedicated time to complete documentation and other responsibilities outside of the primary patient-care schedule.

As you develop in the position, you will gain deeper exposure to gastroenterology, hepatology, chronic hepatic disease, clinical trial protocols, and applicable in-clinic procedures. Experienced candidates may take on greater independence and Sub-Investigator responsibilities based on their background and qualifications.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Participate in clinical trial visits and protocol-driven patient care.
• Conduct appropriate medical and safety reviews for research participants based on training and assigned responsibilities.
• Collaborate with physicians on diagnoses, treatment decisions, and complex patient needs.
• Coordinate with research coordinators, recruiters, and other team members to ensure study visits are completed accurately.
• Review clinical charts, source documentation, informed consent records, and study documentation.
• Develop a thorough understanding of assigned clinical research protocols.
• Perform applicable in-clinic procedures, including FibroScan, once appropriately trained and qualified.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical and research documentation.
• Assume increasing responsibility for patient management and research activities as experience and competency develop.

Required Qualifications:
