About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join a specialty clinical team in Tucson, Arizona. This position offers a unique opportunity to build expertise in gastroenterology, hepatology, liver disease, and clinical research while managing patients across their care journey.

New graduate NPs and PAs are encouraged to apply. For an early-career APP, this is an opportunity to develop specialty knowledge, procedural skills, and clinical confidence while working alongside physicians and experienced healthcare professionals. Experienced APPs will have the opportunity to bring greater autonomy and specialty expertise to the position.

Your day-to-day work will include evaluating patients, conducting consultations and pretreatment reviews, developing treatment plans, providing follow-up care, and educating patients and families. You will collaborate with physicians on diagnoses and complex cases while becoming increasingly independent in patient management based on your experience and demonstrated competency.

You will also gain exposure to clinical research and emerging therapies. This may include caring for research patients, identifying appropriate therapeutic opportunities, and educating eligible patients about available clinical trials. Monday through Thursday is primarily focused on clinical care, while Friday is structured as a half-day dedicated to charting and administrative work, providing protected time to complete documentation and stay current on clinical responsibilities.

Why This Role Stands Out
  • New graduate NPs and PAs are welcome to apply
  • Build specialized expertise in GI, hepatology, and liver disease
  • Gain exposure to clinical research and emerging treatment options
  • Work closely with physicians while building greater clinical autonomy
  • Benefit from a Friday half-day dedicated to charting and administrative work
What We’re Looking For
  • NP or PA with a genuine interest in specialty medicine and complex patient care
  • Strong clinical judgment and willingness to continue developing specialty expertise
  • Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized and attentive to clinical documentation and follow-through
  • Comfortable collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary clinical teams
  • Motivated to learn, take ownership, and develop greater independence over time
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, consultations, pretreatment reviews, and follow-up visits.
  • Assess patients, establish diagnoses, and develop appropriate treatment plans within scope of practice.
  • Manage assigned patients and serve as a primary clinical point of contact throughout their care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and therapeutic options.
  • Collaborate with physicians regarding complex cases, diagnoses, and treatment decisions.
  • Identify and appropriately refer patients requiring additional specialty evaluation or services.
  • Educate eligible patients about available clinical research and therapeutic trial opportunities.
  • Participate in the care and monitoring of applicable clinical research patients.
  • Perform applicable in-clinic procedures, including FibroScan, once appropriately trained and qualified.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Monitor quality-of-care metrics and contribute to established patient-care standards.
  • Participate in applicable APP call coverage based on training, experience, and departmental needs.
