Job summary

• Active NP or PA licensure in good standing

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and perform physical examinations

• Develop and implement diagnostic impressions and treatment plans
• Monitor patient progress and adjust therapy as needed
• Prescribe medications and manage pharmacologic therapies
• Assist in surgical procedures and minor procedures as needed

Job description

The Department of Cardiovascular Diseases at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support the Division of Cardiac Subspecialty Clinics within the Comprehensive Cardiology Service line. The Advanced Practice Provider will work closely with a multidisciplinary team managing a broad range of cardiovascular conditions, including but not limited to coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, and valvular disease. In alignment with Mayo Clinic’s mission and the three shields of medicine—clinical practice, research, and education—this position offers an opportunity to advance patient care and contribute to academic and programmatic growth within the department.

The Nurse Practitioner performs the following tasks in any authorized setting (clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, nursing homes, or patient's home).

• Obtaining patient history
• Performing physical examinations
• Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Formulating a diagnostic impression
• Developing and implementing a treatment plan
• Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
• Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
• Making appropriate referrals
• Prescribing and dispensing prescription medication

• Performing minor procedures and surgical procedures
• Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs.
