Job summary

Indiana Internal Medicine Consultants, LLC seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary health care as part of a hospital medicine team. Under supervision of staff physicians, you will manage health care for patients and families as assigned.

Position based at Franciscan South Campus in Indianapolis, Indiana with a typical 7A–5P schedule and 7 days on/7 days off in a Pulmonary Critical Care setting. Strong teamwork and patient education are essential.

Qualifications

• Current Indiana license to practice the duties of a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Certification in BLS and ACLS.
• Acute Care Experience or Training a Plus.
• Ability to relate well with patients and other health care personnel.
• Ability to work as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Perform health assessments including history and physical examinations.
• Order or perform diagnostic tests and evaluate psychosocial and family factors for health assessment.
• Refer complex cases to the physician on duty for further management.
• Instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment; provide education.
• Triage calls from nursing staff regarding patient issues.
• Complete documentation in the EMR system.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT

CRSM – Indianapolis position working in Pulmonary Critical Care with a traditional schedule:

• 7A – 5P daytime shift
• Pulmonary Critical Care at Franciscan South Campus, Indy Location
• 7 days on / 7 days off

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

• Performance of health assessments, including a thorough history and physical examination, ordering or performing certain diagnostic tests, evaluation of the psychosocial and family aspects of the situation sufficient to make a general health assessment, and diagnose the nature of common acute and chronic conditions.
• Referral of complex and high-priority cases to the physician on duty regarding complicated diagnostic problems, serious illness, complicated therapeutic problems, re-evaluation of chronic conditions, etc.
• Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment. Provides patient education.
• Triages calls from nursing staff regarding patient issues.
• Completes all documentation requirements into the EMR system.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Prefer previous experience providing medical care within a hospital or clinical environment.
