Job summary

Advocate Health’s Neurosurgery team at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago is seeking a PA-C or NP to join a high-volume neurovascular program. You will respond to inpatient consults, perform rounds, and prepare patients for neurosurgical and neurointerventional procedures.

Initial onboarding at a major hospital, with transition to a rotating schedule including day and night shifts. New grads welcome; competitive pay and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• PA-C or NP (ANCC/AANP), DEA, BLS (may obtain within 6 months).
• For Nurse Practitioner candidates, both ACNP certification and RNFA certification are required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inpatient consults for general and neurovascular services and hyperacute strokes.
• Perform daily rounds, progress notes, and patient assessments.
• Prepare patients for neurosurgical and neurointerventional procedures (pre- and post-op).
• Manage ER and hospital consults; one clinic day per week.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary general and neurovascular teams.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage neurological conditions in inpatient settings.

Schedule & Growth

• Will start out on a Monday–Friday, daytime hours schedule
• Schedule will then transition into an evening, night and weekend rounding schedule every 3rd weekend.
• Monday-Friday, overnight primary call (scheduled rotation)
• Initial onboarding at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for high-volume advanced neurovascular training.

Pay Range:
$54.90 - $82.35

Major Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute, critical, and chronic neurological conditions in an inpatient setting.
• Obtain histories, perform physical exams, and develop differential diagnoses.
• Prescribe medications, therapies, and treatments as appropriate.
• Interpret diagnostic studies and collaborate with physicians on treatment plans.
• Provide patient education on disease management, preventive health, and recovery.
• Coordinate care across multiple services, including pre-op planning and discharge.
• Document care plans and maintain records per established standards.
• Offer clinical guidance to nursing staff and ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications: PA-C or NP (ANCC/AANP), DEA, BLS (may obtain within 6 months). For Nurse Practitioner candidates, both Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) certification and Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) certification are required.

Experience: New grads welcome; neuro experience preferred.

Physical & Working Conditions

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the day.
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards; PPE required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with patient transfers.
