Job summary

University Clinical Health (UCH) seeks a Nurse Practitioner to provide hospital-based patient care at Methodist University Hospital, under physician supervision. The role focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and managing stroke patients, coordinating with Attendings and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care.

Required is a TN NP license with NP certification and prescriptive authority; 3-5 years of NP experience is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under physician supervision in the hospital.
• Assess and diagnose patients with acute stroke symptoms.
• Develop and implement patient treatment plans.
• Perform patient procedures and order tests as needed.
• Document charting and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Communicate findings to attending physicians and care team.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and next steps.
• Ensure timely prescription writing and discharge planning.

Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner will provide patient care under the direct supervision of a physician, including assessing and diagnosing patients in the hospital. The position is based at Methodist University Hospital. Candidate must have strong communication skills to coordinate stroke care with Attendings, Fellows, Residents, and multidisciplinary providers throughout the patient journey. A qualified candidate will be able to effectively build and maintain patient relationships while staying within the required scope of practice and elevate to physicians as necessary.
