Job summary

Granite Recovery Center in Portland, ME is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for per diem coverage in our residential detox facility. You will perform admissions, administer tuberculin skin tests, provide direct patient care, and monitor withdrawal under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications include CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and an unrestricted nursing license with interest in detox and med-surge nursing. Flexibility to work evenings/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Must hold an unrestricted RN license in the state of New Hampshire.
• Current CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications required.
• Pass state criminal background and driving record checks.
• Detox, emergency, or med-surge nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of substance intoxication and withdrawal signs and pharmacology.

Responsibilities

• Complete admission procedures and orientation, including paperwork and urinalysis collection.
• Administer and read tuberculosis skin tests.
• Provide direct care and monitor withdrawal in detox units.
• Develop and implement treatment plans with patients.
• Maintain medication administration records and medication management.
• Provide emotional support and patient education.

Per DiemNurse - Licensed Practical Nurse

Granite Recovery Centeris looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse to care for our patients in our residential facility.

Responsibilities

• Complete the admission procedures, which may include the completion of paperwork, orientation of theindividualandmonitorurinalysis collection.
• Thoroughlysearchesindividuals’ belongings upon admission and properly disposes of any forbidden items.
• Administer and read the tuberculosis skin test.
• Document in the individual’schartthe results of the nursing assessment, treatment plan, physician’s orders, progressnotesand other individual-related data.
• Provide direct care to the individuals we serve.
• Monitors for signs and symptoms of intoxication and withdrawal.
• Provide medicallymonitoredevaluation and withdrawal management to individuals served in the Detoxification Unit under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.
• Monitoring forchanges in condition.
• Maintaininghygienicand safe work environment in compliance withthe healthcareprocedures.
• Maintain all necessary documentation.
• Update andmaintainaccurateMedication Administration Records.
• Manage and administer medication as ordered by the Medical Director.
• Providing directions to the technicians on assignedshift.
• Develop a treatment plan with the individual to address medical issues.
• Provide emotional support through listening,counselingand answering questions.
• Consult with in-house staff and other outside professionals toassurecomprehensive, quality care for clients.
• Provide referrals foridentifiedneeds of the individual that cannot be met by the Agency.
• Maintains professional boundaries with clients and interacts with them inan appropriate manner.
• All other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must hold an unrestricted RN license in the state of New Hampshire.
• Requires current certifications in CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Must pass State of New Hampshire criminal background and driving record checks.
• Prefer 1 year of detox, emergency, or med-surge nursing experience.
• Prefer working knowledge of medical detoxification for substance abuse.
• Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of substance intoxication andwithdrawalincluding pharmacological factors.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse population.
• Musthave strong leadership, teambuildingand communication skills.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position with or without reasonable accommodation where applicable.
• Must be able to physically respond to individuals’ needsin the event ofa crisis situation.
• Good verbal and written communication skillsrequired.
• Knowledge of the American Society of Addiction Medicine placement criteria and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual as it relates to substance-related disorders or able toacquirethe knowledge.
• Knowledge of the Code of Ethics for nurses.
• Knowledge of the federal drug and alcohol confidentiality law (42 C.F.R. Part 2) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
• Ability toworka varied schedule to include evenings,weekendsand/or holidays.
• Ability toestablishand maintain effective working relationships with other employees, individuals served, outside professionals and thegeneral public.
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check
