Polaris Placement, LLC is seeking a Nurse Practitioner Manager for a New York City area site. You will lead nursing care, build the schedule, approve overtime, and manage staffing to budget while keeping hands in primary care through up to four clinical sessions weekly.
The role is onsite, full-time, with monthly site leadership collaboration and a direct-hire path. Clinical depth plus management experience are valued as you maintain patient care standards and drive operational excellence.
New York City area · Onsite · Full-time, direct hire · Leadership plus up to four clinical sessions a week
If you can run the morning huddle, rebuild the schedule after two call-outs and still see your 9:00 on time, then this option may intrigue you.
We're consulting with a community health center network in the New York City area, affiliated with a major academic medical system, that's looking for a Nurse Practitioner Manager to lead nursing care at one of its sites while keeping a hand in primary care.
This is management with actual levers. You hire, build the schedule, approve overtime and manage staffing to budget.
You also keep up to four primary care sessions a week, so leadership doesn't mean trading your stethoscope for a spreadsheet.
And here's the part worth knowing: though they are open to anyone who has the clinical and management chops, a seasoned NP with a year or two of leadership may be a better fit than a long management résumé attached to a brand-new NP license.
Clinical depth counts here.
You'd sit on the site leadership team, partnering with the Site Director and Medical Director on staffing and budget, and with HR and recruitment on hiring and performance. Monthly network meetings connect the site to the rest of the system.
The daily rhythm: morning huddles, floor support with triage and care coordination, and a multidisciplinary care team that needs to work as one.
The quality side: QI monitoring, sharing results with staff, incident follow-up and corrective action, and keeping everyone current on infection control, environment of care and emerging pathogens.
The operations side: short- and long-term staffing plans, schedules, timecards, overtime and agency use against budget, plus supply and capital budget input. Then there's orientation, competency, coaching and, when needed, the harder conversations with HR in the room.
Whew, that's a lot — but it could also be really satisfying for someone like you.
Full-time and onsite. Up to four clinical sessions a week; the rest of your time is leadership.
Compensation is $165K to $185K.
Either way, thank you!
ANP or FNP with a master's degree and active New York State NP license; active New York State RN license; 3+ years of ambulatory care experience; NYS Infection Control certificate; AHA BLS at time of hire. Formal leadership, charge or supervisory experience and hands-on scheduling, staffing or budget experience preferred.
