Qualifications

Job Description

Purpose of Position: Under the general administration of the Department of Radiology, to coordinate, manage, and provide care to selected patients within protocols mutually agreed upon by the medical personnel and within the scope of practice as defined by New York State Law. Performs healthcare leadership and complex healthcare activities, demonstrating advanced education functions and administrative responsibilities in cardiothoracic imaging.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate care for patients requiring lung CT scans, lung MRIs, and lung cancer screening exams.
  • Implement protocols for lung imaging and introduce new policies as recommended by the American College of Radiology.
  • Maintain patient lists and participate in multidisciplinary conferences 4-8 times per month.
  • Act as liaison with physicians to coordinate care for incidental findings.
  • Coordinate with ambulatory care for scheduling lung cancer screening evaluations.
  • Request appropriate assessments within established protocols.
  • Maintain professional relationships with healthcare personnel.
  • Attend professional meetings and workshops to enhance skills.
  • Serve as a leader, role model, and resource for other healthcare staff.
  • Orient new staff to departmental policies, safety, infection control, and fire regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State license and registration as a Registered Professional Nurse (NYSED).
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification (NYSED).
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
