General Summary Statement

The CRNP is responsible for applying advanced nurse practice skills for patients undergoing interventional cardiac procedures or percutaneous intervention in the Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab. This includes pre- and post-procedure orders. They are also responsible for rounding and discharging post-PCI patients, which could be same-day or next-day discharges. The CRNP performs Stress Tests and must possess expert communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary health team. A strong knowledge base in Cardiology, including reading EKGs and managing patients in the Cardiac population, is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete pre-cath/pre-admission workups for scheduled procedures, reviewing patient records, history, physical exams, and ordering pertinent studies.
  • Evaluate and document patient responses to interventions, modify care plans accordingly.
  • Initiate referrals to physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding disease, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Adhere to standards for patients with acute myocardial infarction and post-PCI, implementing discharge plans to prevent re-admissions.
  • Schedule office visits before discharge, provide education to healthcare staff, and respond to emergencies in inpatient and ED settings.
  • Support accreditation standards and practice documentation for various certifications.
Education, Training, and Experience

Minimum 3 years clinical nursing in Cardiology or Critical Care, with at least 1 year of advanced practice experience.

Licensure/Certification
  • Licensed as a registered Nurse in PA
  • Licensed as an Acute Care CRNP in PA
  • Prescriptive authority in PA
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
