Job summary

Acadia Healthcare is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for inpatient care at Longleaf Hospital in Alexandria, LA. You will conduct comprehensive evaluations, create individualized treatment plans, and prescribe medications under state regulations as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You’ll work under the Medical Director and Nurse Supervisor to optimize patient outcomes in a 140-bed inpatient behavioral health setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a practicing nurse practitioner preferred.
  • Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings preferred.
  • Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
  • Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards).
  • No history of alcohol or drug misuse for a period of three years before employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides initial and annual history and physical evaluation, assesses eligibility for treatment, evaluates patients’ history of dependence on opioids.
  • Orders appropriate laboratory studies, reviews laboratory results and provides necessary education, referral and/or follow up services to patients.
  • Monitors the treatment plans of high-risk patients.
  • Prescribes medication for the treatment of substance abuse according to patient need as allowed by state regulation.
  • Collaborates with Medical Director to plan and implement care according to Nurse Practitioner Guidelines.
  • Reports and documents significant patient issues and adverse events.
  • Communicates pertinent information to appropriate members of the health care team.
  • Collaborates with Nurse Supervisor to optimize quality and efficiency.
  • Ensures that the program and employees’ transactions and activities are in full compliance with all laws and clinic policies.

Nurse Practitioner - Inpatient

Location: Longleaf Hospital, 44 Versailles Blvd, Alexandria, LA 71303

Our Team

Longleaf Hospital is a 140-bed, inpatient behavioral health hospital in Alexandria, LA for adolescents, adults, and seniors who are experiencing emotional or behavioral problems Treatment is offered through a range of multi-disciplinary programs in a therapeutic, confidential and safe environment. Longleaf Hospital’s purpose is to provide high-quality services that respond to individual, family, and community needs in a healing place.   • Age Group/Range: Adolescents to Seniors
  • Compensation: $1,000 on average, per week day DOE
  • Practice Setting/Type: Inpatient
  • Schedule: PRN, 0-20hr per week
  • On Call: 1 weekend per month; $1500 per day

Role as Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care under the supervision of the Medical Director; may also be directed by Nurse Supervisor for the clinic under the state licensure guidelines for Nurse Practitioners; evaluates and monitors treatment of patients as part of a healthcare team at the clinic. May prescribe medication as allowed by state regulation.

  • Consults and collaborates with Medical Director to plan and implement care according to Nurse Practitioner Guidelines
  • Reports and documents significant patient issues and adverse events
  • Communicates pertinent information to appropriate members of the health care team
  • Collaborates with Nurse Supervisor to optimize quality and efficiency
  • Ensures that the program and employees’ transactions and activities are in full compliance with all laws and clinic legal compliance program policies and standards of conduct
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a practicing nurse practitioner preferred
  • Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilitiespreferred
  • Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone
  • Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards).
  • No history of alcohol or drug misuse for a period of three years before employment

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

  • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
  • Licensed to practice in the state in which the facility operates
  • DEA license
