Job summary

Anne Arundel Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to serve as a palliative medicine consultant in the hospital, nursing facilities, and home settings.

You will make recommendations for care plans, symptom management, and goals of care while collaborating with staff and attending physicians to ensure integrated, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program; Master’s in Palliative Care preferred.
• Maryland NP licensure as NP with Adult/Family/Geriatrics focus; inpatient may require Acute Care.
• National and State certification as required (DEA, CDS).
• HPCC/ACHPN or equivalent certification preferred; CAPC designation preferred.

Job description

Location: Anne Arundel Medical Center - Emergency Department

Under general supervision, acts as palliative medicine consultant in various settings, including hospital, nursing facility and home. Makes recommendations for care plans, symptom management and goals of care. Works in collaboration with staff and attending physicians within care settings.

Education: Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program; Master's in Palliative Care preferred.

Licensures/Certifications:

• Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Nurse Practitioner, specializing in Adult, Family or Geriatrics; Inpatient position can include Acute Care certification.
• National and State Certification as required for the relevant position (DEA, CDS)
• Completion of "healthcare provider" CPR course
• Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care through Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC), Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (ACHPN), or equivalent, preferred.
• Center for Advancing Palliative Care (CAPC) Designation, preferred.

Experience:

• At least five (5) years of related experience in a healthcare environment.
• At least one (1) year related experience in Hospice and/or Palliative care.

Skills:

• Skill in using computer, familiarity with the use of electronic medical records
• Ability to interact with patients and families who are vulnerable and dealing with life limiting or serious illness issues.
• Effective written and oral communication skills to communicate and relate effectively with patients, family, staff in facilities, the public, physicians, and insurers.
• Analytical skills in order to assess patients and implement appropriate intervention, care plans, and treatments
• Able to work under varying degrees of stress and the ability to adjust to changes in the work environment.
• Skill in leading, motivating and developing others
• Skill in teaching nurses, physicians and other clinical and non-clinical staff
• Skill in applying principles and practices of integrative medicine and health.

Pay Range

$82,774.65 - $137,823.94

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
