Job summary

TeamHealth is seeking an experienced family nurse practitioner or physician assistant to launch a new rural health clinic in Stanly County, North Carolina. You’ll provide comprehensive outpatient primary care across the lifespan, build lasting patient relationships, and work with a collaborative team to improve care in an underserved community.

The schedule is Monday through Friday with no evenings, weekends, or on-call requirements.

Qualifications

  • Board-certified family nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
  • Active North Carolina license (or ability to obtain).
  • DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to provide comprehensive primary care across the lifespan.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care for patients across the lifespan.
  • Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and injuries.
  • Manage chronic medical conditions using evidence-based practices.
  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, histories, and physical exams.
  • Deliver preventive care, wellness visits, immunizations, and routine health maintenance.
  • Perform Medicare annual wellness visits and age-appropriate screenings.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate care with specialists.
  • Educate patients and families regarding disease prevention and lifestyle choices.
  • Collaborate with medical director and care team to provide coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the EHR.

Clinic also offers integrated behavioral health services through dedicated behavioral health clinicians. This position is focused exclusively on primary care. Behavioral health counseling, psychiatric medication management, and medication‑assisted treatment (MAT) services are provided by dedicated behavioral health specialists. The FNP or PA is not responsible for providing or overseeing behavioral health or MAT services.

What You'll Do
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care for patients across the lifespan, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults
  • Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and injuries
  • Manage chronic medical conditions using evidence-based practices
  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, histories, and physical exams
  • Deliver preventive care, wellness visits, immunizations, and routine health maintenance
  • Perform Medicare annual wellness visits and age‑appropriate screenings
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate care with specialists and community resources
  • Educate patients and families regarding disease prevention, healthy lifestyle choices, and chronic disease management
  • Collaborate with the medical director and interdisciplinary care team to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation within EHR

Qualifications

Preferred

  • Two or more years of outpatient primary care experience
  • Experience practicing independently in a primary care setting
