Job summary

Wellness Clinic Youth Center in Charleston, WV seeks a Locum Nurse Practitioner (Contract/1099) to provide ongoing coverage at a campus-based student services medical clinic. Hours are 8:00 am–5:00 pm with flexible scheduling; compensation is hourly and professional liability insurance is provided.

The clinic serves youth ages 16–24 and is not open to the public. Required: active WV medical license, adolescent care experience, strong communication and teamwork abilities, and a valid DEA license.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted medical license in West Virginia.
• Experience treating adolescents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and with a team.
• Willingness to commit to 7 hours per week as needed.
• Able to start as soon as possible.
• DEA license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exams and sick visits.
• Manage hypertension, diabetes, and minor acute conditions.
• Prescribe medications as appropriate and provide care guidance.
• Coordinate with campus-based student services clinic staff.

Description

Contract NP needed for ongoing coverage at a campus based student services medical clinic serving the youth of -a residential career education program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps adolescents improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training.. Coverage is for on an ongoing basis as soon as possible. The hours at the clinic fall between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Flexible scheduling. Excellent hourly contract compensation. Professional liability insurance provided.

Students seen at the clinic range in age from 16-24. (The clinic is not open to the public.)

Care includes the following:

Physical exams, sick visits, minor acute care, hypertension, diabetes, GERD, UTIs, URIs, STDs, ADHD, birth control, minor sports injuries, allergies .

Job Requirement

• Active and unrestricted state medical license in West Virginia
• Experience in providing medical care to adolescent patients, including performing medical procedures and prescribing medications
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work 7 hours per week as needed
• Able to start week as soon as possible
• Prior experience as a locums NP is a plus
• Valid Federal DEA license
