Job summary

PurposeMed Inc. is seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality, virtual sexual health care across the U.S. The role combines live consultations with asynchronous care, focusing on PrEP, HIV prevention, and gender-affirming health services.

This independent contractor position offers flexible hours (15–25 hours/week live and async tasks) and requires active licensure in 10+ states, with a strong emphasis on compassionate, stigma-free care for diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing and Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner diploma.
• Active Nurse Practitioner licenses in at least 10 states, including TX, FL, CA.
• 2+ years of experience in primary care.
• Experience providing virtual healthcare.
• Excellent communication skills and empathetic care delivery.
• Experience working in HIV Prevention and/or with the LGBTQ2AI+ community.
• Consistent availability for asynchronous patient care tasks (lab reviews, prescribing, follow-ups) and up to 15 hours weekly for scheduled shifts, including live consultations. Task volume may vary based on state licensure and patient needs

Responsibilities

• Provide synchronous, compassionate care (~15 hours/week of live consultations) via our virtual care platform.
• Lead comprehensive initial assessments for preventative or HIV care, including history taking, risk assessment, and psychosocial evaluations.
• Deliver STBBI prevention education and counseling focused on HIV prevention.
• Maintain accurate patient records in EMR and coordinate with RNs and support staff for end-to-end care.
• Support asynchronous care tasks: labs, diagnostics, prescribing, follow-ups.

Independent Contractor (1099) opportunity through OpenLoop

Location & Schedule: We’re looking for someone who can commit 15–25 hours weekly, split between up to 15 hours of live patient consultations and 5–10 hours of asynchronous tasks. To maintain consistent patient coverage, at least 10 of your live consultation hours must be completed between Friday and Sunday.

In this role, you’ll make an impact by

• Providing Compassionate, High-Quality Synchronous Care (~15 hours/week of live consultations)
• Delivering inclusive, expert, virtual care through scheduled synchronous consultations through our virtual care platform
• Leading comprehensive initial assessments for those seeking preventative or HIV care, including but not limited to: history taking, risk assessment, and psychosocial evaluations
• Providing comprehensive sexually transmitted and blood borne infection (STBBI) prevention education to clients (with a focus on HIV prevention), including risk reduction strategies and behavioural counseling
• Championing health education and empowerment, helping patients understand their treatment options, navigate stigma, and take control of their wellness

Supporting Seamless Asynchronous Patient Care (5-10 hours/week of flexible async tasks)

• Providing asynchronous care to ensure timely and continuous support for patients, including ordering labs and diagnostics, interpreting results, prescribing medication, and clinical follow-up
• Maintaining accurate, detailed patient records in our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, using a wide variety of virtual tools to chart, prescribe, and connect with patients
• Collaborating with and acting as a resource for our team of Registered Nurses and support team members, helping to support end-to-end patient care

We need someone who has

• A Master's degree in Nursing and Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner diploma
• Active Nurse Practitioner licenses in at least 10 states, including at least one of the following key states: TX, FL, CA
• 2+ years of experience in primary care
• Experience providing virtual healthcare
• Excellent communication skills and empathetic care delivery
• Experience working in HIV Prevention and/or with the LGBTQ2AI+ community
• Consistent availability for asynchronous patient care tasks (lab reviews, prescribing, follow-ups) and up to 15 hours weekly for scheduled shifts, including live consultations. Task volume may vary based on state licensure and patient needs

It would also be great if you have

• Experience working with gender and sexually diverse communities
• Experience providing HIV care
• Experience working in the private sector, a start‑up, or a technology company
• Experience working in an independent or autonomous practice setting
• Fluency in Spanish

Compensation

• Compensation is task-based, but on average, independent contractors can expect to earn approximately $70‑90 per hour
• Please note that as an independent contractor, you would not be eligible for the benefits available to permanent positions and would be required to provide your own laptop.
