Advanced Practitioner Role Scope
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant nocturnist to care for patients in the Medical ICU (MICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
The Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) will be an integral member of the care delivery team, including Hospitalist Physicians and APPs as well as Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) Physicians, Nursing, and Respiratory Therapy. The APP will be the overnight provider caring for the MICU patients directly, ensuring appropriate patient care, documentation, and ongoing progression of care by reviewing and interpreting lab and imaging studies, performing bedside rounding with RNs and RTs, and ICU procedures including central lines and arterial lines. The APP will collaborate with the on-call intensivist and hospitalist, partner with the Hospitalist Nocturnist to take new ICU admissions, facilitate early consultations with PCCM, and coordinate patient transfers to higher-level care facilities as needed. Additionally, the APP will perform night bedside rounds on PCU patients, partner with Nursing Supervisor to evaluate patients for stepdown from PCU care, and respond to all Rapid Response and CardioPulmonary Response codes for inpatients.
Schedule: This provider will average 3 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours), working 7p-7a, with an expectation of working 1 weekend per month on average.
