The Center for Alzheimer Research and Treatment (CART), and Alzheimer Prevention Program, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) is a $100+ million-dollar research enterprise, internationally recognized leader in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) clinical research, with funding from the NIH, industry, and philanthropic sources.
As the CART NP, management of protocols require participant informed consent, physical exams, initial and follow-up medical assessments, laboratory test review, and many of which require lumbar punctures and study drug administration by infusion or injection.
As such, the CART NPs are critical members of a multi-disciplinary clinical research team that is working to deliver cutting-edge experimental treatments to older adults with or at risk for AD. They help prioritize safety and participant experience while adhering to study protocols and regulatory requirements.
