Job summary

Scarborough Health Network is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for the Acute Pain Service. The NP provides consultative care, leads preoperative and pain-management initiatives, and collaborates with anaesthesiology and surgical teams to improve patient outcomes.

The role emphasizes education, evidence-based practice, and leadership in quality improvement, with duties distributed across General Hospital and satellite sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Nursing and NP education completion.
• Current Extended Class registration with CNO in good standing.
• Completed CNO approved controlled substance education program.
• Active memberships in RN AO, OPANA or ORNAC.
• Current BCLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, consultation and coordinate preoperative care in clinic and acute pain services.
• Lead implementation of BPSO Best Practice Guideline and advance pain knowledge transfer.
• Educate interprofessional teams and develop care standards for acute pain management.
• Diagnose, treat and prescribe within RN extended class scope with evidence-based practice.
• Engage in teaching patients and families using teach-back methods.
• Participate in quality improvement, program development and regional evaluation.
