Responsibilities
  • Under limited supervision, perform advanced nursing functions in specialized areas including women's health, PrEP for HIV prevention, communicable diseases, and immunizations.
  • Operate under written nurse protocol and prescriptive authority agreements to conduct physicals, provide treatment, counsel clients, complete referrals, perform case management/clerical tasks, prescribe medication, and perform additional tasks/duties as assigned.
  • Develop comprehensive plans of care.
  • Examine clients to obtain information about their physical condition.
  • Instruct and counsel clients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
  • Make tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of clients.
  • Obtain, compile, and record client medical data, including health history, progress notes, and results of physical examination.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, infection management, colposcopy, IUD implantation, etc.
  • Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • Certification in the specialty area(s) approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse and Georgia license as an APRN and CPR certification.
  • For Nurse Practitioner 2: two (2) years of nursing experience and current certification in specialty area; or two (2) years of experience at the lower level PH Advanced Practice RN 1 (HCP200) or equivalent.
  • Prefer at least four years experience working in women's health and with HIV/PrEP services.
Compensation

Starting salary: Nurse Practitioner 1 – $74,758; Nurse Practitioner 2 – $84,477.

Emergency Staffing

All Coastal Health District and County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency.
