Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies seeks a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) to work within a correctional environment in Fort Lauderdale and Miami. The APRN will provide ambulatory care under physician supervision at detention facilities and contribute to inmate healthcare delivery.

The role requires APRN licensure in Florida, CPR certification, and the ability to respond to emergencies. This PRN/1-day-per-week position supports multiple facilities and emphasizes safety, documentation, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited college/university with current certification/licensure as an APRN in the state of employment.
• Maintain active CPR certification.
• Annual licensure and credentialing requirements for mid-level provider credentials.

Responsibilities

• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies inmate/patient health problems and prescribes treatment under direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills; follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
• Assigns tasks to team members as needed.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and infection control practices.
• Attends training and meetings as required.

POSITION SUMMARY

The APRN utilizes the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as their primary focus. The APRN works with a variety of healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment and provides basic medical services supervised by a licensed Physician.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Graduate of an accredited college / university with current certification / licensure as an APRN in the state of employment.
• Must hold the required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for their specific mid-level provider credentials.
• Maintain an active CPR certification.

APRN SCHEDULE

• PRN
• 1 day per week
• 5-6 hours per facility
