Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide ambulatory care within Broward Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Miami-Dade Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Miami, FL. The APRN will work under a physician and in collaboration with healthcare staff and security personnel.

The role requires correctional facility experience, APRN licensure, CPR certification, and the ability to respond to medical emergencies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited college/university with current APRN certification/licensure.
• Maintain active CPR certification.
• Keep annual licensure/credentialing requirements up to date.

POSITION SUMMARY

The APRN utilizes the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as their primary focus. The APRN works with a variety of healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment and provides basic medical services supervised by a licensed Physician.

APRN POSITION SUMMARY

• Will be required to work within a correctional facility.
• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies inmate /patient health problems and prescribes treatment under direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, andcontrolled medications.
• Assigns tasks to team members as needed.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
• Attends training and meetings as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Graduate of an accredited college / university with current certification / licensure as an APRN in the state of employment.
• Must hold the required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for their specific mid-level provider credentials.
• Maintain an active CPR certification.

APRN SCHEDULE

• PRN
• 1 day per week
• 5-6 hours per facility
