Job description

Bay Area Hyperbarics is a specialty clinic providing hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to patients with wound healing, radiation injury, sudden hearing loss and other medically indicated conditions. We're looking for a Nurse Practitioner to serve as our onsite advanced practice clinician, providing medical oversight and clinical documentation across the full patient treatment journey. This is also an exciting time to join us — we're expanding into regenerative medicine and wellness services, and we welcome a PA or NP who's curious about that broader scope of care as we grow.

What You'll Do In the Short Term
  • Conduct initial medical assessments for all new patients prior to their first HBOT treatment, reviewing history, medications, imaging, labs, and comorbidities to confirm appropriateness and identify contraindications
  • Review referral documentation and clinical correspondence, and prepare hyperbaric technicians with the treatment protocol and prescription needed for safe, informed care from day one
  • Educate patients on HBOT risks, benefits, and alternatives, and obtain and document informed consent
  • Monitor patients throughout their treatment course, evaluating tolerance and responding to acute clinical issues (e.g., middle ear barotrauma, oxygen toxicity, claustrophobia), escalating to the Medical Director as needed
  • Author timely progress notes and Medicare-compliant documentation to support medical necessity and audit readiness
  • Conduct discharge consultations and author discharge summaries, including clinical outcomes and treatment value
  • Communicate with referring physicians at key points in the patient journey and participate in care coordination for complex cases
  • Maintain a documented collaborative agreement with Kaiser Permanente to consult on and supervise Kaiser patients
  • Serve as a clinical resource for the hyperbaric technician team
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support compliance/regulatory readiness
  • Consult with patients interested in regenerative medicine and wellness to target medical solutions to their concerns
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
  • Active, unrestricted California license; MSN or DNP from an accredited program
  • Current national NP certification (FNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGNP-C, or equivalent)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Valid California Furnishing Number and DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Valid Medicare PTAN, enrolled and certified to treat Medicare patients
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Kaiser Permanente collaborative agreement
  • 2+ years of clinical experience as an NP in outpatient, primary care, wound care, or a specialty setting — hyperbaric experience is a plus, not required; we provide full training
  • Strong documentation skills, including experience with Medicare standards
  • Comfortable working with patients navigating serious or chronic conditions, and communicating with referring physicians
  • Proficiency with EHR systems (CareCloud experience a plus)
