Job Description:

  1. Family or Acute Care NP will collaborate with anesthesiologists and the block nurse team to provide care and support to patients.
  2. This role involves administering conscious sedation during block procedures, rounding on patients, assisting with the care of pre and post-op regional anesthesia patients, and ordering medications, including narcotics.
  3. Performs assessments and data collection systematically, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status.
  4. Provides patient and family education, consults with supervising physicians and other clinicians as needed based on patient assessment findings.
  5. Assists the anesthesiologist with preoperative surgical assessments.
  6. Reviews medical records for follow-up and orders diagnostic studies under established protocols.
  7. Maintains communication with other healthcare providers and departments to ensure operational efficiency and continuity of care.
  8. Manages time effectively while prioritizing patient care throughout the day.
  9. Adapts quickly to different computer systems used at various hospital facilities for documentation and orders.

Qualifications:

  1. At least 1-2 years of Nurse Practitioner experience.
  2. DEA registration is required.
  3. Active Texas NP License.
  4. Completion of a Master’s or Post Master’s Degree from an NP program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
