Position Overview: The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for delivering high-quality psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, medication management, and behavioral health treatments across various levels of care, including detoxification, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient services. They collaborate with the medical team to ensure safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including mental status and substance use assessments.
- Diagnose and treat psychiatric and co-occurring disorders using DSM-5 criteria and evidence-based practices.
- Manage medications, including prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting treatments within scope.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director on complex cases and treatment strategies.
- Provide crisis intervention and psychiatric consultations.
- Ensure accurate documentation in electronic medical records.
- Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and recovery.
- Support compliance with standards such as Joint Commission, HIPAA, and DEA regulations.
- Offer clinical guidance to staff and promote a compassionate, ethical care environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Current licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant.
- Active license, DEA registration, and CAQH profile.
- 2-5 years of relevant behavioral health or psychiatric experience preferred.
- Experience with co-occurring disorders, EMR, and medication management.
- Strong assessment, diagnostic, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to educate and collaborate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications & Physical Requirements
- Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment and detox protocols.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and behavioral health settings.
- Work is primarily in a clinical environment, requiring effective communication and use of standard office tools.
