Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required; Paralegal Certification preferred.
• 6+ years as a registered nurse; 2+ years of law firm consultant/paralegal experience preferred.
• Proficient understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, labs, and medications; strong proofreading and editing.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and related regulatory mandates; research, analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Request, analyze, and summarize medical records for attorneys and experts.
• Conduct medical journal research via Internet or libraries.
• Abstract medical records and prepare outlines, narratives, and chronologies.
• Identify and coordinate medical experts and deposition preparation.
• Assist attorneys with medical evidence preparation for hearings or trials.
• Compose and type document production and case analyses.
• Conduct preliminary legal research as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
