Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospice in Roanoke, VA is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Inpatient Unit on the night shift. You will provide comfort, clinical excellence, and emotional support to patients and families during end-of-life care, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

The role requires a Virginia RN license and at least 3 years of nursing experience; hospice, medical/surgical, or community health backgrounds are valued.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an active Virginia RN license.
• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience required (hospice, medical/surgical, or community health preferred).
• Strong communication, organization, and clinical assessment skills.
• Comfort with EMR and technology.
• Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Heart for mission-driven, relational work with patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing assessments, interventions, and symptom management for hospice patients in the inpatient setting
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospice protocols
• Monitor and document pain and symptom control while ensuring patient comfort and dignity
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate individualized plans of care
• Provide emotional support, education, and guidance to patients and families
• Supervise CNAs and support the delivery of compassionate personal care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Participate in IDT meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing education

Schedule & Compensation

Schedule: Full-time Night Shift, 3x12s (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Location: Inpatient Unit – Roanoke, VA

Benefits: 21 days of PTO in your first year, $.65 per mile mileage reimbursement, company paid life insurance and long-term disability insurance, medical through an ICHRA model offering multiple plan choices, and 401(k) with company match (100% match on the first 3%, 50% match on the next 1%)

Starting Salary: 38.00/hour

This is the starting salary for the position. Compensation may vary within the established salary range based on relevant experience, education, licensure, certifications, and other qualifications.
