Job summary

UNC Health Care in North Carolina seeks a Nurse Midwife to provide advanced practice care across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn settings. You will conduct exams, manage labor and delivery, order tests, and prescribe medications within the Collaborative Practice Agreement.

Responsibilities include counseling patients and families, maintaining clinical documentation, and participating in quality improvement while ensuring HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, and infection control compliance.

Qualifications

• MSN required.
• Must have current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina. Certification as a Nurse Midwife is required.
• Three years of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrated clinical competency and strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Works in collaboration with the supervising physician to provide primary health care services within the scope of the licensed Nurse Practitioner.
• Obtains patient histories, performs exams, and orders diagnostic tests; documents care in the medical record.
• Prescribes appropriate pharmaceuticals in compliance with prescribing authority.
• Provides guidance and counseling to patients and families on prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, and interconceptional care.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and maintains collaborative practice agreements.
• Ensures compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines (HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, infection prevention).
• Demonstrates good customer service skills and effective communication and teamwork.
• Provides direct clinical services and management of mothers and babies as defined by standing orders and protocols.
