Job summary

Atlantic Health System in Morristown, NJ seeks a physician-supervised Labor and Delivery clinician to provide physical and emotional care for mothers during labor, delivery and postpartum. You will evaluate progress, manage labor and delivery, and deliver immediate newborn care, while helping mothers care for themselves and their infants.

The role involves collaborating with attending physicians and nursing staff to ensure safe, evidence-based obstetric care in a high-acuity setting.

Qualifications

• Provides physician-supervised obstetric care during labor, delivery and postpartum.
• Assesses labor progression and manages delivery.
• Evaluates and provides immediate newborn care for the normal newborn.
• Assists mothers with care of themselves and their infant.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete history and physical examination on new patients admitted to the labor room and writes admission notes utilizing the attending physician when appropriate.
• Follows progress of labor of all patients in labor and delivery suite in collaboration with the attending physician and nursing staff.
• Participates in deliveries.
• Initiates routine, physician countersigned, orders in the labor and delivery suite and on the postpartum floor.
• Makes daily rounds on routine postpartum floors with the attending physician or independently.
• Reviews protocols, policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
