Job summary

Ascension in Austin, TX, is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join our women’s health team. You will provide comprehensive prenatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum care in collaboration with physicians and allied health professionals.

The role emphasizes patient education, shared decision-making, and culturally sensitive care. A CNM credential and Texas RN licensure are required, with opportunities for professional growth and ministry-guided service.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 1 month of hire date.
• CNM credentialed by the AMCB prior to hire date.
• Licensed RN in Texas prior to hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent and collaborative primary healthcare for obstetric patients before, during, and after pregnancy.
• Develop a comprehensive care and discharge plan based on assessments and medical plans.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans and communicate patient condition.
• Educate patients and families on pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, contraception, and gynecologic care.
• Promote informed choices, shared decision-making, and patient self-determination.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive plan of care and discharge plan based on the assessment and integration of the medical plan.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Provide education/counseling to patient and patient's family with respect to pregnancy, childbirth, care of the newborn, contraception, family planning and gynecological care.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certified Nurse Midwife credentialed from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Master's or Doctorate of Science in Nursing or Midwifery or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
