Montefiore Health System seeks a dedicated Nurse Midwife to provide exceptional care for healthy women, ensuring adherence to nursing standards and ethics. The role encompasses performance improvement, clinical expertise, and leadership within the Pediatrics department. A fitting candidate will hold necessary New York licenses and have substantial experience in nurse-midwifery.

Associates are eligible to apply for a transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Probationary period is four (4) months for full-time employees, and six (6) months for part-time employees.
The Nurse Midwife maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing’s Social Policy Statement.
The Nurse Midwife actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center.
The Nurse Midwife participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The Nurse Midwife demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served.
The nurse midwife assumes complete responsibility for the care and management of essentially healthy women in accordance with the midwifery practice agreement and with institutional practice privileges. The nurse midwife participates in educational activities for healthcare students and assists with research studies
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
1.Current New York State license as a Registered Nurse.
2.Current New York Midwifery License.
3.Certification for prescriptive rights by NYS Department of Education
4.Participation in ACNM Continuing Competency Programs.
5.Baccalaureate Degree and Master’s Degree plus satisfactory registered professional nurse experience.
6.Five (5) years of satisfactory clinical nurse-midwifery experience may be substituted for a Master’s Degree.
7.Current DEA registration
