Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking an experienced nursing leader to supervise the ED Administration team and oversee clinical unit functions. The role includes directing patient care, coordinating preceptor activities, and driving unit-specific improvements under the Nursing Director's guidance.

The ideal candidate has a BSN with 3+ years of supervisory experience, current Texas RN license, and certifications in CPR, ACLS/PALS with timely acquisitions for designated areas.

Qualifications

  • Three years of lead/supervisory/management experience required with strong direct patient care.
  • Current Texas RN license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • ACLS and PALS required or obtained within required timeframes.
  • TNCC/ATCN, CPI and ENPC required or obtained within specified timeframes.
  • NPD-BC/CNML/NE-BC or equivalent certification within 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise departmental Associates and functions of clinical units.
  • Coordinate preceptor activities and unit-specific systems for improvement.
  • Coordinate activities between shifts to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Provide clinical nursing care using established standards and nursing process.

Job Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the Nursing Director, supervises all departmental Associates and the functions of the clinical units. Assists with or conducts delegated projects, performs managerial responsibilities as delegated by the Director, including supervision and evaluation of patient care and all department Associates.

Assumes responsibility for clinical resources and coordinates preceptor activities. Assists Nursing Director in the development, implementation, and evaluation of unit-specific systems/activities, which result in organizational improvement. Coordinates activities between shifts and clinical areas to ensure continuity of patient care.

Provides clinical patient care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Utilizes knowledge of professional nursing practice in providing age-appropriate care based on scientific principles, nursing standards of practice, and standards of patient care for patient populations.

Work Experience

Three years of experience in a lead/supervisory/management capacity required, with strong direct patient care experience.

License/Registration/Certification
  • 1. Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
  • 2. Current CPR training required.
  • 3. ACLS required or obtained within 6 months of being in the department.
  • 4. PALS required or obtained within 6 months of being in the department for designated areas.
  • 5. TNCC or ATCN, CPI and ENPC required or obtained within 1 year of being in the department for designated areas.
  • 6. Obtainment of the Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC), Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML), Nurse Executive (NE-BC) certification or an approved nursing certification in specialty area is required within 3years of being in the position.
Education and Training

Bachelor degree in Nursing is required. Master degree in nursing is preferred.
