University Health Careers is seeking a Nurse Maternal Transport Specialist to provide safe, specialized medical transport for high-risk obstetric patients by air or ground, coordinating transfers to higher levels of care as needed.

The role requires an RN with 2 years in Labor & Delivery or related ICU, current NRP, BLS and ACLS certifications, and BSN preferred; you will act as a clinical role model and mentor within the women’s health program.

Qualifications

• RN with 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery or related ICU experience.
• Current NRP, BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• BSN preferred.

• Provide safe, specialized medical transport via air (rotor or fixed wing) or ground ambulance for high risk and/or critically ill obstetric patients, obstetric patients transferred to a higher level of care due to fetal indications, or the delivered mother requiring higher level of care than what is available at the referring facility.
• Utilize critical thinking skills and established protocols to function within a mobile high risk obstetrical system.
• Serve as a clinical role model, expert resource, and mentor for women’s health colleagues within the organization and throughout the region.

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide safe, specialized medical transport via air (rotor or fixed wing) or ground ambulance for high risk and/or critically ill obstetric patients, obstetric patients transferred to a higher level of care due to fetal indications, or the delivered mother requiring higher level of care than what is available at the referring facility. The (Nurse) Maternal Transport Specialist utilizes critical thinking skills and established protocols to function within a mobile high risk obstetrical system. The transport specialist also serves as a clinical role model, expert resource, and mentor for women’s health colleagues within the organization and throughout the region.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Registered Nurse with 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery or related ICU experience. Required current NRP, BLS certification and ACLS certification. BSN preferred.

LICENSURE

Current professional license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice as a Registered Nurse is required.
