Responsibilities

The Manager of Emergency Department is responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of all activities, assuming 24-hour administrative responsibility for all nursing service functions within the Emergency Department.

Supervises, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of patient care. Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current regulations. Supervises and evaluates all personnel assigned to the unit, effectively utilizing nursing personnel, and manages time responsibilities for the unit. Is directly accountable to the CNO/DON. Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, and administration both in writing and verbally. Interacts with physicians, hospital staff, outside agencies, patients, and their families/significant others to provide comprehensive care.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Must have a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification upon hire and maintain current.
• A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience is necessary.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• PALS certification upon hire and maintain current.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of three years of continuous clinical experience in a clinical/acute care setting.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for all hires after 01/11/2021.

Facility Specific Requirements (may vary by facility):

• Non-OB facilities: NRP certification within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of hire, considering factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
