As Nurse Manager of the Oncology Nurse Navigation Program, you will lead the team responsible for creating consistency, connection, and support across the cancer care continuum while helping shape the future of navigation services at UVA Health.

This leadership role provides the opportunity to oversee a growing team of Oncology Nurse Navigators serving multiple disease groups and care locations. Working in a hybrid environment with routine regional site engagement, you will combine clinical expertise, operational leadership, and program development to enhance the patient experience and build a highly effective navigation program across the Cancer Service Line.

The Role

As the Nurse Manager, you will lead Oncology Nurse Navigators across multiple oncology specialties while driving program growth, standardization, and operational excellence. This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong clinical credibility, relationship-building skills, and the ability to guide teams through change while maintaining a patient-centered focus.

In a typical day, you may:

• Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship, and operational support to Oncology Nurse Navigators across the Cancer Service Line.
• Meet with clinic managers, nurse leaders, physicians, APPs, and care coordination teams to align navigation services with patient and operational needs.
• Review workflows, documentation practices, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improved consistency and efficiency.
• Support regulatory compliance initiatives and ensure navigation documentation is completed appropriately within Epic.
• Address navigator-related issues, remove barriers to care coordination, and serve as the primary escalation resource for the team.
• Conduct site visits across oncology locations to maintain visibility, build partnerships, and strengthen collaboration with local leaders.
• Lead program development efforts, including workflow redesign, best-practice implementation, and expansion initiatives.
• Work closely with stakeholders to improve access to resources and support services for oncology patients throughout their care journey.

Preferred Requirements

Oncology and Nurse Navigator Experience.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program, Master's degree in related field within 5 years of hire.

Experience: 3 years of progressively more responsible experience as a registered nurse in a patient care environment required.

Licensure: License to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. Valid Virginia Driver's license required for managers with responsibility operations in multiple locations. Must have applicable specialty certification at hire or within 3 years.

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

The pay range for this role is $106,454.40 - $141,211.20 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
