Position Summary

The Nurse Manager (IP and OP) leads and develops the inpatient nursing team to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality clinical care. This role is responsible for maintaining compliance with standards of care, identifying and mitigating safety risks, and overseeing clinical operations to ensure regulatory and ethical standards are met. By optimizing nursing workflows and ensuring policies are up to date, the Manager fosters a high-performing environment focused on clinical excellence and patient safety.

Key Success Measures
  • Workforce Stability & Retention: Maintain ≥70% employed nursing staff and ≤30% locum utilization through effective recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies.
  • Patient Safety & Clinical Outcomes: Achieve ≥95% compliance with medication administration standards and implement quality improvement initiatives to reduce medication errors.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Operational Excellence: Maintain ≥95% compliance with regulatory, documentation, and policy requirements while addressing identified risks and audit findings within established timelines.
Key Activities
  • Standard of Care: Maintains compliance with standards of care to ensure nursing staff are receiving clinical supervision and providing high-quality care.
  • Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement: Monitors quality indicators, clinical outcomes, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement. Implements quality initiatives and identifies new nursing policies and procedures that need to be implemented for safe, high-quality care.
  • Risk Identification and Management: Identifies and mitigates safety risks to ensure staff and client safety at all times. Identify incident trends and develop training or workflows to mitigate future incidents.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Policy Oversight: Oversees nursing operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements. Maintains current nursing policies and procedures that align with regulatory standards and organizational expectations.
  • Optimizing Workflows: Collaborates with nursing services to standardize and improve workflows, enhancing efficiency, consistency, and quality of care across the organization.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong foundation in nursing practices, clinical standards of care, and patient safety protocols.
  • Proven experience in managing nursing teams, providing clinical supervision, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing work environment.
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, quality assurance, and risk management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize workflows, develop policies, and manage operational logistics in a clinical setting.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience, with 2+ years of progressive leadership or supervisory experience in a hospital, inpatient, or outpatient setting.
Physical and Mental Requirements

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Primarily operates in office, healthcare, residential, and community-based environments
  • Requires frequent movement throughout agency facilities and grounds
  • Ability to travel between sites and attend meetings across locations as needed
  • Ability to inspect maintenance areas, mechanical systems, rooftops, and operational spaces
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds

Pay Range
  • $95,617.60 to $143,436.80 Salary
Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Active RN license in Washington or Compact State
  • Must have valid driver's license and vehicle liability insurance
