Hiring Range: $98,113.60 - $12 5,080.80 Per Year

$10,000 Sign-on Bonus (5k paid after 60 days, 2.5k paid after one year, 2.5k paid after two years)*

Kitsap Mental Health Services is hiring a Nurse Manager to oversee our Adult and Youth Inpatient units. The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing all administrative and clinical functions associated with nursing services. This includes ensuring smooth and efficient operations, managing inventory, personnel, financial management, client relations, and client flow while adhering to the agency's mission, values, and policies. Primary Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate excellence in professionalism and collaboration to create and sustain a positive and safe working environment.
  • Foster open and collaborative communications with all staff and relevant external agencies, including St. Michael Medical Center and Salish Behavioral Health Organization, to ensure continuity with the agency’s mission statement, treatment philosophies, and client care.
  • Assist nurse supervisors with hiring, training, coaching, development, accountability, and performance appraisals for nurses. Comply with all agency personnel policies and support the KMHS affirmative action program.
  • Oversee and serve as backup for nursing staff schedule management. Approve timecards and expenses as needed in the absence of nurse supervisors.
  • Routinely interact and problem-solve with staff, clients, and organizational leaders. Treat clients and families with respect and dignity.
  • Address incident reports, client complaints, and medication errors reported by nursing staff promptly. Consult with the Medical Systems Director and collaborate with nurse supervisors to research solutions and educate staff as needed.
  • Participate in budget development and monitoring with the Medical Systems Director.
  • Work with the Medical Systems Director and inpatient leadership team to negotiate and maintain relevant contracts.
  • Provide metrics reporting as needed, offering recommendations or action plans on issues of concern.
  • Participate as a team member in administrative, treatment, staff, training, and supervisory meetings as required.
  • Oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of nursing services. Provide hands-on training and guidance to foster leadership qualities in supervisees to ensure competence in their roles as nursing supervisors. Monitor in-service training for all nursing staff.
  • Provide oversight and training, and address nursing challenges for the PACT/FACT nurses.
  • Provide oversight for nursing student placement processes as requested.
  • Maintain awareness of activities on the 24/7 units and facilitate continuity of care across disciplines and between shifts, adhering to department and agency policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Systems Director and the Inpatient Leadership team to develop, update, and implement policies and procedures that maintain quality nursing standards and regulatory compliance regarding medication management.
  • Support the inventory and ordering of nursing supplies and over-the-counter medications.
  • Ensure accurate accounting of all Health Care Entity (HCE) medications. Use DOH pharmacy commission laws and regulations, and WAC’s concerning HCE medications to provide appropriate oversight for the KMHS inventory and use of these medications. This includes reporting to the DEA and the responsible pharmacist employed by KMHS.
  • Assist the DOH, DBHR, and other outside entities with inspections, audits, or other visits as needed. Facilitate timely corrective actions and consult with the Medical Systems Director for protocol development.
  • Work with nurse supervisors to ensure and report the timeliness and accuracy of nurse charting in the electronic medical record.
  • Interact with on-site and local pharmacies as needed to ensure adequate client medication supplies.
  • Ensure agency critical incident procedures are followed. Lead and train staff to ensure debriefings routinely follow critical incidents. Provide operational leadership to unit staff during mission-critical times.
  • Disclose limited client information as necessary, adhering to HIPAA privacy and security standards and logging disclosures according to agency policy and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION: Associate’s degree in Nursing.

EXPERIENCE: Five year’s nursing experience, with at least two years in a behavioral health environment. Prior supervisory experience required.

LICENSURE: Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Washington State. Active and unencumbered multistate practical nurse license accepted with additional training requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Prior experience as a nurse manager or charge nurse.

  1. Maintain a working knowledge and skill in verbal de-escalation skills as outlined in ProAct and other agency-mandated trainings

Maintain knowledge of proposed and current WISHA/OSHA regulations; coordinate and provide training for staff as required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, ascend and descend stairs, talk or listen and lift up to 50 pounds. Peripheral vision is also required for this position.
