The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is a skilled nursing facility seeking a compassionate and motivated Nurse Manager to join our team in providing care to our Veterans and Members with the dignity and respect they so rightfully deserve.

The Nurse Manager has 24/7 responsibility for the overall functioning of specified units and groups of patients, including those experiencing dementia and/or cognitive decline. The Nurse Manager is responsible for assuring regulatory compliance, providing direction and feedback to nursing staff, other clinical care providers, patients, families, and/or responsible parties. The incumbent is the key communicator between other managers/supervisors, nursing administration, collaborating health care professionals and other facility departments.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Directing daily clinical operations under the supervision of the Nursing Services Director, including supervision of nursing and non-nursing personnel and monitoring the quality of care provided.
• Developing and overseeing processes that ensure regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and continued facility certification; conducting routine audits and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Supporting, guiding, educating, and holding staff accountable in clinical practices and documentation; providing expertise in the facility's electronic health record system.
• Collaborating with executive leadership, contracted partners, and external agencies to support departmental goals and ensure aligned operations; contributing to policy development, staff relations, and participating in standing and ad hoc committees related to nursing and/or facility issues.
• Participating in emergency preparedness activities and providing oversight for clinical activities during emergency events.
• Participating in Quality Assurance initiatives to promote continuous improvement.

This full-time position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week. Some flexibility in start and end times may be negotiated. Please note that this role may require performance of duties outside of the normal workday and workweek.

Duties primarily performed in a clinical and office setting. Work may require travel off-site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, potentially physically and verbally violent patient population and other stressful situations may occur. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and extended shifts as the need arises.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license AND five (5) years or more of professional nursing experience in the nursing specialty INCLUDING two (2) years or more at a supervisory level.

NOTE: Must maintain Vermont licensure as a Registered Nurse OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Special Requirements

Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.
